Quality 8:   Positive Self-Dimension Total winners like in the present. They know that now is all there is. They don’t get caught up in the past or worry about the future. They simply handle the business that they can handle which is the stuff going on today, now. Wellness is being in good physical and mental health. Because mental health and physical health are linked, problems in one area can impact the other. At the same time, improving your physical health can also benefit your mental health, and vice versa. It is important to make healthy choices for both your physical and mental well-being. Remember that wellness is not the absence of illness or stress. You can still strive for wellness even if you are experiencing these challenges in your life.
Quality 6:   Positive Self-Discipline You have to discipline yourself or else someone else will discipline you into doing what they want you to do. Total winners have the power to discipline and take control of their lives. The overall goal of your discipline strategies should be for your child to learn self-discipline. Kids with self-discipline are able to make healthy choices even when their parents aren’t standing over their shoulder telling them what to do. Children who develop self-discipline are more likely to live happier lives, according to a study published in the  Journal of Personality . Research indicates that people who have self-discipline experience less conflict and less emotional distress in life. Self-discipline is one of the  six life skills  your child should be learning through your discipline practices. There are several areas in life where kids should develop self-discipline in order to grow up to become healthy, responsible adults. 1. Health
Quality 5: Positive Self-Control Total winners can sacrifice immediate pleasure for a gain in the future. Delayed gratification is of immense value in reaching your goals. Self-control separates us from our ancient ancestors and the rest of the animal kingdom, thanks to our large prefrontal cortex. It is the ability to subdue our impulses in order to achieve longer-term goals . Rather than responding to immediate impulses, we can plan, evaluate alternative actions, and, often enough, avoid doing things we'll later regret. The ability to exert self-control is typically called willpower. It is what allows us to direct our attention, and it underlies all kinds of achievement. There is significant debate in science as to whether or not willpower is a finite resource. Studies demonstrate that exercising willpower makes heavy demands on mental energy, notably on reserves of glucose, the brain 's preferred fuel, creating ego depletion . It's one reason we're more apt to
Quality 4 :  Positive Self-Direction You gotta have direction if you are going to go anywhere. True winners know where they are going. Their sense of direction comes from the self and not from outside influences like parents or friends. When you are a person of character, you know who you are and where you want to go.   You’ve already spent a great deal of time thinking about it. You’ve been working on the parts of your personality that will make you better–your attitude, your health, your time-management skills. You’ve been putting it all down on paper. And you’ve developed positive self-direction. As you talk with yourself every day, how often do you ask, “ Is what I am doing today getting me closer to where I want to be tomorrow? ” Because here’s what you don’t want to ever do: kid yourself. Kid your neighbor and kid me and kid the marketplace if you want to, but don’t kid yourself. You can’t wait around with your fingers crossed hoping you’ll arrive at a good destination when
Quality 3:   Positive Self-Image True winners are confident and view themselves as competent, valuable human beings. “What competencies should I improve?” That depends on what you’re after. But there are also some skills that I believe every person can benefit from. Emotional intelligence  — Research shows that humans are inherently social. Without good relationships,  we die . And if you want good relationships, you need emotional intelligence: Understanding other people’s emotions and how to respond to them. This is something you can learn. Self-awareness  — You can practice self-awareness by continuous self-reflection. Write down your thoughts; try to understand why you do what you do, what you can do better, and what you’re doing well. Know yourself. Problem-solving  — Our current school system dates from the industrial revolution. We’re trained to become cogs in a wheel. We’re not trained to solve problems in complex situation — instead, we do what we are told. But the
Quality 2: Positive Self-Motivation  "True winners dig deep and find motivation inside themselves to get through that tough task or to learn a new skill." Positive Self-Motivation is that personal inner drive to achieve and succeed in the face of any and all challenges in life. Positive Self-Motivation is the characteristic of a real winner in life. A self-motivated person will run circles around one that lacks motivation and they will become the leaders in society, business, church functions or any endeavor they take on, whereas those that lack motivation and ambition to keep advancing forward in life will always be the followers at best. So how do you improve your self-motivation and where do you begin? To improve your motivation we must first take a look at your attitude. Attitude, once again is the magic word to leads the pack when it comes to all self-improvement.

Quality 1:   Positive Self-Expectancy  "Life is a self fulfilling prophecy. True winners go into every event expecting to win. " There never was a winner who didn’t expect to win in advance. Winners understand that life is a self-fulfilling prophecy. And they know that you usually get what you expect in the long run. So winners accept the belief that hope and a deep, unbreakable faith — forged into a fundamental attitude of positive self-expectancy — is the eternal spring from which all creative, motivating energy flows. The idea that faith conquers all has been verified from  biblical times  to current-day medical histories to daily stories of heroism and come-from-behind victories and rags-to-riches success we read about every day in the newspapers. They’re human biographies of greatness we read about, hear about, and watch on TV. And we marvel over these special people who pull themselves up by their own bootstraps.
